Soups are fantastic, but that's it

CK Diggs was hubby's recommendation after we snuck away from the kids for a few hours to get their holiday gifts. It's a central meeting place for lunch with some friends of his during the week. I liked the casual atmosphere. There were a couple company holiday parties going on while we were there, but it never seemed overall noisy in the bar/restaurant. I had the chicken piccata and it was delicious (if a lot more than I needed to eat in one sitting). The sauce was creamy and smooth. I'm a huge artichoke fan, so I really liked the big pieces of artichoke too. Overall, I wouldn't drive the half an hour or so out of my way regularly to eat here, but if I'm in the neighborhood I wouldn't pass it up either.

I am not sure what is going on at this place, the last several times I have ordered to go from here the order has been screwed up. Even worst, I was there, inspected my order, and found it to be wrong, I brought it to the rude bartender (so much so the random patron next to me even said what happened to customer service), he annoyingly took it back to the chef to have it corrected, and unfortunately, they screwed it up again. Good lord, I guess my CK Diggs days are over. Oh well, however, I will miss the food when done right, it is quite good for a bar.

Some food items were good (Mac n cheese, wings), but others were truly awful (soggy calamari, nasty black bean burger). The atmosphere was nice, family friendly, but they wouldn't t put the NBA Finals on the big screen until a Tigers pre-season game was over which nobody was watching!! Pretty disappointing for a group of 10 who made a reservation specifically to watch the game. Our server was a nice guy, tried his best to at least a sub the awful menu items, although I was really surprised the manager kept sending him back and forth instead of coming out to talk to us. Overall, needs improvement.

I had a great experience here! I came here for lunch and got the veggie black bean burger that came with coleslaw and it was very tasty. My waitress even said she would customize the rueben sandwich to make it vegetarian for me if i needed. She was very accommodating and outgoing. GET THE SWEET POTATO FRIES! They were the best ones i have ever had. I have nothing negative to say about this place. However warn your men that there is a "no tank top" policy for men here. Which i did find a little bizarre because it's a restaurant in a strip mall with a beer can statue in it...nothing inside over the top fancy but ok lol.

Ridiculous no tank top policy for men but women can feel free to wear spaghetti strap tanks all they want. They obviously think too highly of themselves, this is a bar in a strip mall, not a Michelin-starred restaurant! Even worse is that the cowardly owner hides behind the bar as the college-aged girls on his waitstaff enforce the ridiculous rule. Food is mediocre. Drinks are fine.

CK Diggs is hands down my favorite bar/restaurant in the Rochester area. The food is consistently fantastic and they have an amazing draft selection. The owner Chris has been nothing short of outstanding every time im there. Hospitality and a complete dining experience are a forte at CK Diggs. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

Hadn't been to CK Diggs in ages... And to tell you the truth...it'll be ages until I go back. First off this place was deadsville on a Friday night, yet we had trouble getting service, at first.... Yes, we had kind of meandered onto the outside patio without anyone leading us there, but after several waitresses having passed us, as we sat there looking thirsty, you'd think someone would've said something...nope. Alas, we knock someone down to bring us a beer and some menus. The menu has some fun, different looking options to chose from. I asked our server about the fish tacos...which were made of Swai (should've know better) fish, and the server claimed she just loved them...well that's because they have no flavor AT ALL!!! I guess you have to be careful when you ask someone else's opinion of seafood. If they don't particularly care for seafood, they'll love the likes of Swai, because it picks up whatever flavor you're serving with it. And with it was served with something spicy..but not particulary a good spicy...just hot...I was disappointed...but no biggie...lesson learned. My friend ordered some type of grinder, with all kinds of meats and cheeses and it was baked...but cold in the middle....he asked our server was it supposed to be cold, or hot...it was baked anyway... She didn't know...she claimed anything she ever ate here was after it had sat for awhile, and was always cold...but she brought him another sammy and all was copacetic. I could find about a THOUSAND other places to go to for a much better experience. Maybe next time CK Diggs....and then again...maybe not...

My wife and I have both gotten intestinal issues on different occasions eating their chicken dishes. I would just say NO!

  • Alex F.

Decent experience, would recommend, but don't go out of your way. The fish tacos were the choice of the day and fried fish is the only option (would love a grilled fish option), but for friend fish I was pretty impressed. The fallout of the dish were the stale chips, the TINY cup of salsa (couldn't fit the chip) and there were more tomatoes on top than the dish and tortillas could hold. On the lighter side the chili was pretty good and comes in a pretty good sized "kettle" style bowl; impressive. Good service too!

GREAT beer selection and the food is always fantastic. We usually sit at the bar, the bartenders are so knowledgable and excellent. The patio is a great asset. The team and the manager Jason are so friendly, always remember our faces! If you're anywhere near a beer snob (like us) this is the place to be.

    (5)
  • K T.

Great beer list. A lot of very good micro brews represented. Food is pretty good too. Noisy and boisterous crowd, not a place for easy conversation. Busy on weekends. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead. Service is generally good depending on who you get. The works burger is definitely worth ordering. Goes great with a col beer.

CK DIGGS IS A FRAUD. They sell gift certificates then refuse to honor them. As far as i am concerned it is the same as stealing. They say the company they were dealing wiith changed their rules so they broke the contract with them so they don't have to honor their certificate. The manager believes that. The reality is the cotract was valid when they sold it to me. So they should honor it. The one star is only because i have to leave them something to write a review. The manager must have said a half a dozen times i don't have to honor the certificate. To me it's the same as if I wrote a check to pay for my bill then refused to honor it. A THIEF IS A THIEF.

Certain food is good here. Avoid the pizzas, pizzas are horrible and doesn't taste good. I would recommend the salmon dish with brown rice vegetable on the side. Good service too as well. Been here a couple times, but there was an incident that we had waited almost an hour for our food, made a compliant to the manager, manager offered us 25% discount. I would definitely thumbs up for service.

Food is always good, prices are reasonable, service is great. VERY noisy. Their specials are interesting and they always serve fresh veggies with entrees. Love their pineapple chicken--not on the menu but they will still make it if you ask.

  • Mike T.

Absolutely love it here! Monday half off appetizers with any drink purchase! We love it. Amazing soups ant day you decide to come. The staff is great for the most part. Prices are fair and this place is great. Wish they had more on the menu but hey! Try the Cajun steak tips! 4 stars because of slow service.

I wish Yelp would allow me to rate this with less then one star...The food is terrible, staff is clueless and Management is incompetent.. My 7 year old ordered a kid burger and it was was junk,...I complained and sent back (NO Manager visit?)...& we waited 22 min for the replacement (told them to make it to-go). Waitress dropped the check & ran; when I reviewed the bill, they charged us for both burgers?...The Waitress said "My manager told me to bill you" . I immediately called the manager over and he denied instructing the waitress to double bill us (for the disgusting burger my son was initially served) and he acted like he was doing us a favor by taking it off our bill...total disregard to customer service. I ordered a cod sandwich on a guacamole ciabatta...sounds good right?...GROSS!...the bun was soggy, about 2.5oz of heavily battered cod that tasted VERY bland...Wife & Mother-in-law split a beef tip/penne dish...the beef had some weird artificial taste and 1/2 of it was not even eaten. I get it... it's a bar...& the beer selection is excellent....just be sure to eat before you go there!

Not sure why there were reviews on here about bad service. My server was spot on. Knowledgeable about the beer selection which is rare these days.

I have been visiting this establishment for over 10 years now and I must say, I cannot remember when I have had a bad experience here. Starting off with the beer selection (41 taps) and over 100 bottled beers, you can get a sense that this is not your average local brewpub. The atmosphere is decorated in an eclectic style, with several TVs posted around so you can watch your local sporting event. The food is good and certainly does not disappoint with quality and portion size.

CK Diggs is a great place located in a strip mall that sometimes gets over looked. Although from the outside it looks like a "bar", the inside gives the "bar and grill" atmosphere and is very accomodating. The biggest draw to this place is the beer selection. They have over 40 beers on tap and another 100+ beers in bottles and cans. Chances are, there is something that you have never tried before. To go along with their beer selection, there is a beer "challenge/club" that you can partake in. The challenge...drink all the beers on the menu in an 8 month time frame and you will be inducted into this prestigous club, plus get a cool pint, t-shirt and your name on the wall. The real prize is to say that you have tried all the beers. Aside from the beer selection, the menu here is awesome! I have been here numerous times and have never had anything bad. Their pasta dishes are amazing and give you plenty to eat. I personally love the tortellini. Their personal pizzas are also delicious and are enough to feed two, although I have been known to eat one myself. The Thai pizza is their specialty item and is out of this world. CK's is not known for their burgers and while they are good, I have had much better elsewhere. Their sandwiches, however, are very good and you should try their specialty sandwiches. All sandwiches and burgers are served with pasta salad, which is awesome! Sometimes I order a large bowl of pasta salad. In all honesty, ALL the food is great! CK's always has food and drink specials. Best beer special is 6 domestic long necks for $12. $0.20 wing specials on Mondays and Wednesdays. Highly recommended!

This has been a local favorite of ours for over 13 years. We don't get there as much as we used to, but when we do the food is always awesome, and the service even better. No chain restaurant here, just a locally owned and operated excellent experience.

  • Mark T.

This place is excellent. We go here probably every 2 weeks, and eat a late dinner. Cobb Salad is tremendous. I get Salmon Fingers occasionally, great stuff! The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the TV's all over the place always have the sports on. Thanks.

I used to drive by here every day on my way to work and never bothered to stop in. That is really my loss. I had very low expectations walking in. The service is slow, so that sorta met my expectations. However, the food for lunch was really excellent. I ordered some sort of open faced chicken sandwich that was smothered with asiago cheese, bacon, and some sort of artichoke sauce. Chew on that for a second . . . . Of course it was excellent! I ordered onion rings on the side and they were pretty solid, too (not necessarily spectacular). I wish I was there after hours, so I could partake of their beer selection. They have . . . wait for it . . . non-Michigan craft beers on tap. Bestill my heart . . . .

Great food! Go Blue! Try the Perch, great bread, salads are terrific. My kids love the BBQ pizza

    (5)
  • Nadia M.

Great food and service. Disappointed that the menu doesn't have many vegetarian options. They have this seasoned onion petal appetizer that is out of this world. Whenever I went it wasn't very busy, but staff has always been great!

As a long time Rochester resident, I passed by CK Diggs for years and never tried it out. About 5 years ago I finally went in and there was no turning back. The food, drinks, staff, and clientele are all top notch. Always have a great time and have never had a bad dish. My favorites, the beef Nachos and Santa Fe Chicken Salad. On top of the awesome draft selection, they have the best Martina's in town. Chris, the manager, has gone out of his way to talk with us every time we are there. He is a great example of a manager that knows exactly how to run a stellar business. Bravo CK Diggs!

  • Rebecca T.

Okay CK, you've redeemed yourself in my opinion. After a few different trips here, I haven't been unhappy with anything I've ordered. French dip? Good. Turkey wrap? Good. Fries? Good. Prices are pretty reasonable for what you get, and their drinks are strong and not ridiculously overpriced. Great selection of beer and the place gets pretty packed on a Friday night, which should be an indication that something is right!

  • Julie A.

Ok I was Naughty.. I stepped outside my gluten free box and had the pan fried Lake Perch! It was so so so yummy!!! I can not get that in Chicago at many places, so I probably sound like an idiot to anyone who lives near the great lakes! Our service was prompt and attentive, the wings were on and the food was tasty..what else is there to say..ohh yeah they are part of the restaurants.com GC participants!!!

I dont know what I would do without this place. You will never get a bad meal here and if you do, Chris will get you an entirely new dish. Love this place

  • Brian P.

I have been here many times. The bar is known for their great beer selection. They have about 41 on tap and a full world beer menu. The food is decent. Nothing that jumps off the menu, but is good for the money. Again, the pub emphasizes the beer more than food.

I used to come here often with some friends, who made themselves regulars at this place. I've never been in there with more than handful of other people (not including my friends). Somehow, it always ended up a good time. The staff there is really personable. This place is kind of in a random location, strip mall in Rochester right near Troy, and nowhere near any other bars or anything. So it's definitely not the kind of place to include in a bar hop. But if you have a group, large or small, and you are just looking to hang out just with each other, CK Diggs may offer up the atmosphere you are looking for.

  • Michael F.

Admittedly, I was skeptical when I first arrived at CK Diggs. As a lapsed vegetarian, I've often shied away from "bar and grill" destinations, but I was invited to join a group of friends who swore by the place, so I wanted to keep an open mind. I'm glad I did! After downing a New Holland Dragon's Milk Ale (CK has a lot of Michigan-specific alcohol options), I decided to partake in the boneless wings (hot, of course!), the blackened salmon fingers, and the Thai Pizza - all of which were superb! Since then, I've been back with family, and they've shared my enthusiasm for the CK Diggs cuisine. My only complaint is that the bar can tend to get quite noisy during sporting events, and little kids roaming around can bring the place to a dull roar. So, if you're looking for great bar and grill fare, look no further than CK Diggs - just don't expect a tranquil ambiance!

One of the better Local Sports bars in the Rochester/Troy area. They have one of the best tuna salad sandwiches in town. Great selection of beers and also a fairly extensive hard liquor selection. Pizza and burgers are great and their soup of the day is always good. The place can be noisy and depending on the number of smokers it can be smoky. The wait staff is always friendly and service attentive. The bartenders are knowledable and can articulate the difference between a larger and an ale. Highly recommend this place for groups and for just an afternoon watching sports and drinking beer.

  • Eric D.

A nice, classy yet casual place to grab a drink with surprisingly good food. Friendly staff. For some reason the clientele is always 10 - 15 years older than you'd expect from the hip decor. The food and beer selection are great. Their 10" pizzas are perfect for two adults to split and are outstanding - the Thai pizza with Thai spices and peanut sauce is a knockout. Dinner entrees are excellant. They pride themselves on a good selection of bottled beers and wines - chances are, you can find something new and delicious you haven't tried yet! Overall, C.K.'s is a satisfying middle ground between a neighborhood sports bar and a nice resteraunt. I'll take it over the similarly targeted chain bars any day of the week.

On my initial visit to this restaurant, I was slightly underwhelmed, although I didn't have a bad experience. Even though my initial intention was not to be a regular here, I lived very close to CK Diggs' and ended up going there pretty often after all. Why? Because this place has, hands down, the best macaroni and cheese I've ever had, and I've had a lot. You can get it as a side, or you can get it as the main entree. CK Diggs is one of those local places that grow on you. We've since moved out of state, but for anyone who has the opportunity to visit, I'd wholeheartedly recommend CD Diggs.

  • Chris F.

The blackened salmon fingers app is excellent. If you like the fingers, just order an entree and get the salmon and pay the extra dollar to get it blackened. Melts in your mouth. So good. Great beer selection too.

  • Carol B.

There is usually a pretty good MI beer selection (which I prefer). The food is okay. Tonight I had the tortellini. It was a bit too heavy on the sun-dried tomatoes for me. My husband had the chicken fajita wrap and he liked it. I've had other dishes in the past that had good intentions but the cook got something a little off (like too much oil). Overall, we like it but not for special occasions.

Been missing this place since leaving Michigan in 2007. What do we talk about? The beer or the food or....the Beer Club! Let me talk about the Beer Club first. It's pretty simple. They give you a list of 100 beers, you have 6 months to finish it, after which you get a T-shirt and your name etched into the wall for prosperity and bragging rights. You can find my name TWICE etched. Needless to say, beer selection is no concern. Let us talk about the food. I have been told their entres, pasta, and pizzas here are excellent. Unfortunately, I have the food tastes of a savage, and never got past the appetizer section. I love their HUGE nachos, fantastic Cobb salad, and potato skins.

3 words: Blackened Salmon Fingers They were OUTSTANDING. Super tender, perfectly blackened, and the cucumber wasabi sauce was re-donkulous. My mom had a Cobb Salad and said it was really good as well. I can't wait to come back here and try more! They have some good weekday specials, so if you're in the area Mon-Fri definitely check it out!

  • Ranna M.

I work nearby so I order a lot of carryout from here. Love this place! The food is delicious. Dana and Nicole are the people I usually talk to. They are super friendly and welcoming. I like to try to stay healthy. So, I like salads, but they're sort of gigantic. They have the small house and the small ceaser. I wish they had a couple half options of their signature salads...or some vegetable sides.

Great place for a beer and dinner. Excellent selection of draft beer ~ forty on draft. Usually a few beer specials at a discount. And food has always been good and reasonably priced. Better, imo, that that expensive beer pub up the street.

  • Jocelyn M.

The only reason I'm giving two stars instead of just one is extensive draught beer list, which is great. The food was poorly prepared and flavorless. Our spinach artichoke dip came cold with a chewy layer of cheese on top. When we asked for a replacement, he brought back the same dish obviously microwaved and almost burnt. My sandwich was very blah and the bottom piece of bread was soggy. The fries were so very boring. The service was painfully slow. The only reason we came here us that Clubhouse BFD is closed Mondays. They have an even longer draught beer list and excellent food. You'll be much happier there!

My husband had the chicken fajita wrap and he liked it. I've had other dishes in the past that had good intentions but the cook got something a little off (like too much oil). Overall, we like it but not for special occasions.

The blackened salmon fingers app is excellent. If you like the fingers, just order an entree and get the salmon and pay the extra dollar to get it blackened. Melts in your mouth. So good. Great beer selection too.

I have been here many times. The bar is known for their great beer selection. They have about 41 on tap and a full world beer menu. The food is decent. Nothing that jumps off the menu, but is good for the money. Again, the pub emphasizes the beer more than food.

Bestill my heart . . . .

This place is excellent. We go here probably every 2 weeks, and eat a late dinner. Cobb Salad is tremendous. I get Salmon Fingers occasionally, great stuff! The staff is very helpful and friendly, and the TV's all over the place always have the sports on. Thanks.

Food is always good, prices are reasonable, service is great. VERY noisy. Their specials are interesting and they always serve fresh veggies with entrees. Love their pineapple chicken--not on the menu but they will still make it if you ask.
